broken In literature and myth, the vampire represents the sin sick brokenness in us all and in this story models a particular form of brokenness rarely addressed nowadays, except in horror films and books, yet still debilitating in the world today Tragedy and violence leave us with broken places in need of the help that only Christ can provide The reader finds herself rooting FOR the tragic figure of the vampire Jeffrey Lapin His inner dialogue superbly illustrates the battle within him as the foul and demonic tortures his body and soul I highly recommend this book if you re at all curious about Greek Orthodox practice, vampirism, spiritual recovery, and healthy relationships A beautiful romance is woven through the tale, several different examples of brokenness are shared from other characters lives, and great kindness is offered for all of us who are starved and sickened by oppression and yet who seek recovery Jeffrey s growth as a human being is handled compassionately and with great spiritual wisdom I couldn t put this book down, and I came to understand a great many spiritual truthsfully through this modern day parable, I really found The Salvation of Jeffrey Lapin to be interesting and quite a bit different than most Christian fiction I have read How There is a vampire and demons And the story is centers around the Orthodox Church I have not read any other book like this or what this type of writing style That being said, I did enjoy the book At first, I did not know what rating I would give, but getting to the author s note made everything come have plenty of proper conversation between bites of cake at church functions, but the real story lies in the grand sweep of souls caught up in spiritual warfare Kinard takes the forces of the unseen seriously, leading us into the dark world thrashing with demons and out into the light again with the victory of Orthodox Christianity If Summer Kinard s The Salvation of Jeffrey Lapin goes far beyond
