hooker.Jasmine is an actressthe bubbly, vivacious one of the Fenbrook girls But she s hiding from a lot of darkness Ryan is the one person who seems to see through her facade and the closer they get, the closer the real Jasmine gets to the surface.Ryan is battling a demon of his own Having never had the courage to ask Jasmine out, he finds himself in the position to interact with her daily as they are both given roles in a TV pilot for a police drama There s a story here but you ll have to read the book to get it Newbury said Acting Brave wasdifficult andaffecting to write than its predecessors It s my favorite in the series It s obvious she poured her heart and soul into this one She did a phenomenal job of conveying how difficult the fight was that Jasmine was experiencing battling to maintain the shields around her, the life she d created, and keeping her past buried for fear of what its discovery would mean for her and her friends I also liked her description of Jasmine s feelings that her friends were drifting away that Karen in particular, no longer needed her, and why her perspective was such.Since Acting Brave is told in dual POV, we also get well acquainted with Ryan He s gone through a recent tragedy and how he s dealt with it has gotten him into a bit of trouble Despite this, he s just such an open, honest guy who can t believe his luck in that a girl like Jasmine would give him a second look They re good for one another though They ve always had chemistry but their romance gets to simmer, and I loved that they took the time to get to know one another It made it allspecial. This is the last of the series sniff But another thing that made Acting Brave such a standout was how Newbury exhibited why all these girls are such good friends They all really had each others backs and when they needed each other, they all even their guys pulled together. It sounds like Acting Brave was all rainbows and unicorns, doesn t it It was far from that It has a dark, gritty side But friendship and love prevailed, and I adored this final chapter in the Fenbrook Academy series I look forward to seeing what Newbury does next 3.5 starsI think I liked this story better than previous ones Yes, I haven t read the first book in the series it doesn t interest me that much unlike the rest of the books in the series, who knows maybe I ll like it evenbut for now this book is the best of the series so far.One thing that made me prefer this book than others in the series is it hasangst in it I like angst and drama in contemporary romance And the main characters hasangst in it I like angst and drama in contemporary romance And the main characters Jasmine and Ryan carrybaggage on their shoulders And I think author did a good job building the tension between Jasmine and Ryan since book 2 It surely made me curious to pick this book up to knowabout them Which is quite surprising me because I never thought that their story will be that dark and deep It just sad and what happened with them was heartbreaking and I could feel it I felt themthan what happened to other characters in the series. However, there is one thing that I didn t quite like and it made my reading wasn t that good, in a way The way Jasmine and Ryan, but especially Jasmine, tell their stories sometimes feel repetitive to me I get that it s needed in some way, but when I keep reading the same thing, things that I already know but have to read again because the characters tell me times and again I didn t enjoy it In fact it was a bit annoying I felt like they forced me to run in a circle with them. And there is also this one thing that actually isn t a big deal for the story view spoiler how come they didn t track Nick down as soon as Jasmine decided to testify against her dad They have days, if not two weeks, to do it And how about the police, didn t they have any useful evidence that can be used in the court even a teeny tiny thing Since they said that the police are actually building the case against her dad, so I think they at least have evidence, even if it s only a little hide spoiler , but I was kinda questioning it and couldn t believe that they didn t do it sooner than later I cannot help not to think that it is maybe to build the climax while I think it was quite ridiculous when the characters didn t think of it, while it s so obvious for me.Hence, I cannot round my rating up to 4, though I do think it s the best in the series, so far She s spent her whole life acting But can she make him believe she doesn t love him Three years ago, a terrified girl named Emma fled a world of crime and abuse in Chicago and bought a one way ticket to New York She reinvented herself as an actress, enrolled at the prestigious Fenbrook Academy and buried her pain beneath a vivacious new persona Her new name was JasmineNow she has to pull off the performance of her career Landing her dream part in a police show, she finds herself falling for her co star, Ryan, a real life cop If she lets him get too close, he ll awaken memories she doesn t want to face and uncover secrets that could endanger them both But how can she keep a guy at arm s length when she has to kiss him on camera The last place Ryan imagined himself was on a TV show Blaming himself for the death of his partner, he s on a downward spiral of rage and guilt The show is his last chance but how can he keep it professional when his co star is a woman he s crazy about As their on screen and off screen relationships merge, things go from hot to blistering But when Jasmine s old life catches up with her, will a cop be the one person she can t be around or the only person who can save her ARC, kindly provided by the author, in exchange for an honest review This is my FAVORITE been even a little relate able. The book was done perfectly The scenes wasn t done overly Newbury dived in her characters and exploited their personalities While I love the identities of Emma and Jasmine, it gets a little repetitive on some parts when Jasmine is figuring out who she s playing at the moment. The part where all the characters come together was just so heartfelt too It felt like it was kind of deliberately done that way because it s the ending of the trilogy but it didn t felt cheesy or anything It was just perfectly done And I can definitely say the scene in the courtroom is my favorite out of the book.Acting Brave was full of feels without being angsty It has the perfect touch of keeping me at the edge of my seat too Any NA lover should try this book out It ll be worth your time Trust me She Does it again In Helena Newbury s newsletter, she said that Acting Brave took the longest and took the most out of her to write as compared to the other Fenbrook Academy books she d like to keep it She became Jasmine three years ago and sometimes it s all she can take to keep the walls up She has to remind herself, how flimsy her Jasmine raft was, and how easily it could tip Jasmine wound up in New York after running away from a house of horrors back in Chicago and hasn t looked back.Jasmine finally gets her big break on a television cop drama The show is fine, the subject is a bitto swallow Jasmine isn t a fan of the cops, doesn t trust them as far as she can throw them One bright spot on the show is the giant, lovable real cop acting like a cop, Ryan Ryan is a beat cop that has been in love with Jasmine from afar He saw her a year ago, made a dumb assumption about her and has never had the guts to talk to her after that For a big guy, he is really just a mountain of mush, which is what I loved most about his character Ryan also has some demons to overcome, one reason he s a cop on a tv show and not in real life at the moment.Ryan and Jasmine are on screen lovers and finally she admits she feels the same for him off screen as well Jasmine doesn t like cops because they could be crooked and they ask too many questions, the main reason she kept Ryan at arms length Cops triggered memories of her past, something she wants to forget Deep down Jasmine needed Ryan, because, the thing about surviving is you can only do it for so long The past was creeping up and Jasmine had to finally let somebody see who she really was.I think I m gonna say I liked this third book in the series the best Again, Helena Newbury takes her time with the characters, building up the romance and not just jumping in It s a busy story with love trying to bloom, a tv show, death and the past vying for your attention All former characters are front and center in Jasmine s story as well love that The book can be read as a stand alone, however I recommend reading them in order for the full Fenbrook effect I thank Helena Newbury for letting me read her they all have their own books but you do not have to read them to enjoy this one and they are in their last year together Jasmine has maintained her personashe is giggly, the sexy one who tells everyone what they may need about sexshe is a man s walking wet dreama Jessica Rabbit in human formyet her heart and caring for her friends remains true..All of this has only enhanced her acting ability Together one night Jasmine crosses paths with Ryan, a beat cop She and her group were making their way through an alley short cut after being out one night one was a little lagged behind and was getting mugged Ryan took the call with his partner Hux and questioned Jasmine as to what happened In Ryan s questioning, he insulted her and then had to backtrackthe damage was done but neither of them wanted to acknowledge the damage was not what he said it was to both of their beings because that first connection in that alley.was everything.Ryan lived to be a cop his father was one, his grandfather, too He wasn t a talker or slick he would watch and observe He also was BIG the type of big which cannot be ignoredshoulders widetree trunk legs arms just all of it But some how not frightening unless he activated his lookthat steely glare, intense So here is this man captivated by this womanwho he thinks is an angel gliding through all these humans on earth He cannot stop thinking of her, he is not worthy of her he get s tongue tied every time he is around her had fate brings them together again with a bar fight he breaks up, too Then he starts to time his patrols for her walk at lunch on Thursdaysit just so happens she is just as obsessed about him too but he is forbidden fruit he is a copshe cannot be around him he will ask questions she cannot revealso when they have another encounter these two mismatched people both fumble and events happen which change Ryan foreverThis book was strong and had grit The characters were formed to give you the understanding of their actions It is very important, however, to address the possible triggers which are in the book Implied domestic violence, extreme sexual abuse are part of the storyline I feel if these things are something which are not for you or could trigger, please think carefully about reading this book.I will say, though, there were strong life lessons and the chemistry between Ryan and Jasmine Emma worked I would have liked to have seen the book come together a little sooner There were quite a few plot points and all of them were addressed wellso in the end it was all worth it These books all cover unique issues surrounded by the falling in love with their partnerNothing is every 1,2,3 easy but they all have a satisfying end A gifted copy was provided by author publisher for an honest good and bad, I both laughed, cried, and swooned and amazing characters. The third instalment in Newbury s Fenbrook Academy series fulfilled me I loved Jasmine as a character, even if I found her hard to get in the prior novels where she was a side character When I got to know her better, I understood so well why she often seemed aloof and a bit detached, she really had to be to protect both herself and her friends She came from a very difficult past, and she had seen firsthand what it meant to stand up for herself it didn t only have consequences for her, but for those who wanted to help her as well Fenbrook was a new start for her, and she wanted to make the most of it, while staying safe at the same time.Ryan had fallen in love with Jasmine almost at sight, even when he had to break up a fight, and he thought she was a high end prostitute The young police officer had things together, though, at least until his partner was shot dead and he had trouble dealing with his temper When the two of them end up at the same audition for a TV show, sparks fly, and they get leading roles, even if Ryan has never acted before. The characters moved the story forward flawlessly, and I loved to learnabout them little, by little, Jasmine had a lot of what she saw as bad luggage on her young shoulders, and it was so nice to see how she might be able to let go of the past to fully live her life in the present while also preparing for the future.Written in first person point of view, from both Ryan s and Jasmine s perspectives, I enjoyed myself and was amazed at how quickly I finished the book Completely engrossed from start to finish, I loved every second.I hadn t slept for two nights and I was practically hallucinating But before I crashed out, there was one last thing I had to do I pulled the Ploaroid camera from my backpack and took off all my clothes And then, using the self timer, I took photos of everything he d done to me.My eyes went from gray to green, courtesy of colored contacts My face, once gaunt from stress and bad food, filled out My skin went from deathly pale and spotty to something you might romantically call ivory I grew my hair until it hung in long, shining waves I liked to think qualified as tresses Did I do something wrong she asked And even that throwaway, innocent comment was just laden with teasing, sexy innuendo My mind filled with all the things she might have done wrong, and all the wrong things I d like to do to her Or was it all in my head Was I just reading that into it because I was completely, hopelessly smitten with this girl
